Highlights

Once again, the practitioner Idea Exchange Café will be open for interactive sharing of best practices by any attendee who would like to participate. Six facilitated sessions, on a variety of relevant topics, will take place over two days.

1. Employee engagement methods

Employee engagement is a critical factor in measuring lean progress. How do you engage employees in your continuous improvement activities? Do you measure employee engagement? Come and share your stories or learn from other attendees.

2. Digital technology and lean

How are organizations changing business communication on the shop floor using digital phones, cameras, tablets, etc?  Bring examples to share or come to learn from those who are on the leading edge.

3. Reward and recognition related to lean efforts

Everyone wants the “What’s in it for me?” question answered when beginning the lean journey. How are companies using reward and recognition to drive improvement and what are their methodologies? Share your stories in this open forum session.

4. Administrative lean – examples of muda, mura, muri

How are lean efforts moved from the shop floor into administrative functions. What forms of muda, mura and muri were identified? How do white collar workers respond to a call for improvement? How do you convince them that change is good? Share your stories or learn from others who have tackled administrative lean.

5. Leadership of lean

What does it mean to lead lean? How does someone lead lean - do you have to be a senior manager? Come and share your leadership success stories or learn from others successes or failures.

6. Gemba walk stories

What is the purpose of a gemba walk? Who should participate on these walks? Share your gemba walk success or failure stories to help others learn about and improve their walks.
