Gemba walks are used as a tool for personnel development, coaching, effective shop problem solving and continuous improvement. At this event, attendees will receive training on how to conduct a gemba walk, the use and value of a gemba walk, and take part in two gemba walks within the Tremco facility. They will also receive checklists to assist them in maximizing the value of every walk they do at their facilities.

"The primary purpose of a gemba walk should be to develop people. It is an opportunity to see reality with your own eyes—which challenges assumptions people have made—and to coach people on a variety of topics. Some people think walks are to find waste. That is only one type of walk, and it is not the most important one to do. A key to doing this effectively is to use the walk to create the environment where people develop and use critical thinking skills. A walk is a great way to directly approach culture change." — Michael Bremer, Vice President of the AME Excellence Awards committee
