DESCRIPTION

In this three-day course, participants will learn the  leadership skills necessary to build a united and engaged workforce. This unique learning journey is designed to promote significant behavioral change and begins with pre-work and preparation. Following the three days in the classroom, participants are provided resources and assigned a learning partner to help them to put into practice what they have learned in the course. The course concludes with an invitation for participants to reset their default mode and sets them up for the learning journey that continues after the class is completed. Integral to the course is a team building event on the first night that builds connection between class participants and helps to reinforce the concepts and ideas presented in the course. The course itself consists of five interlaced modules:

Module 1: Communication profile: Participants learn about their unique communication profile, people's core behavioral tendencies, and how to flex their style to meet the needs of others to become a more effective communicator.

Module 2: Communication cycle: Participants will learn about the the entire multi-step process of communication.

Module 3: Non-verbal communication: Participants will learn that words represent a very small portion of the message that we send others and that in fact we are sending a message through our non-verbal signals and actions 24/7.

Module 4: Reflective listening: Although most people believe that listening is innate, it is actually a learned skill. In this critical module, participants will learn the five skills of listening to help others, improve relationships and increase the opportunity for personal and team achievement.

Module 5: Effective confrontation: Participants will learn a practical and effective method to positively and respectfully confront others to create change.

Lisa Weis

Lisa Weis is a lean/continuous Improvement expert, with more than 20 years of demonstrated success in helping hundreds of public and private organizations achieve their vision and meet their strategic goals by engaging people, implementing enterprise excellence and inspiring innovation. She is a certified professor for "Listen Like a Leader" training in the Barry-Wehmiller University. Weis is currently the lean program director for the Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership, a member of the AME Mid-Atlantic Region Board, a member of the AME People Centirc Leadership Team and a member of Campus Community School Board.

You can become an AME member during the registration process for $150 per year and obtain the discounted AME member rate for this event. Payment or purchase order must be received by the AME office five days prior to the event start date. If no payment or PO number is received, you will be asked to pay with a credit card or check at the event before entry. 

Cancellation Policy: Enrollment fee less a $100 non-refundable registration charge will be refunded up to one week before the event. Substitutions may be made up to three days prior to the start of the workshop.
