Participants, including supervisors, team leaders and anyone who directs the work of others, will be given the framework and skills to:
- Establish standard work
- Quickly train employees to do a job correctly, safely and conscientiously
- Build positive employee relations, increasing cooperation and motivation
- Create a safe workplace
- Solve problems quickly and effectively on the floor using TWI methods
An objective of all organizations is to quickly train associates to do a job correctly, safely and conscientiously. Job Instruction (JI) is designed to develop basic stability of your processes (standard work). This program teaches the method to instruct a person how to perform a job – any job. As is frequently the case, most processes are performed by various people using different methods. Job Instruction requires you to identify the “one best way,” teach the process to this one way and thereby creates a standard method. The basis of stability is generated by doing the same thing the same way across associates and shifts. By utilizing Job Instruction you gain the benefits of consistent training and stable processes. This lays a solid foundation for any continuous improvement program. Benefits experienced when practicing Job Instruction are significantly reduced ‘learning curves’ (by as much as 75%), less scrap and rework, fewer accidents, and increased job satisfaction.
Note: Attendees will be asked to bring with them a process from their own organizations that can be used for in-class application of the JI method. The process must be of short cycle time (~2-3 minutes) to accommodate the program format.
