DESCRIPTION

Training Within Industry (TWI) is a dynamic program of hands-on learning and practice, teaching essential skills for supervisors, team leaders, and anyone who directs the work of others. TWI is an essential element of continuous improvement programs around the world including the Toyota Production System. Its proven methods include:

  • Teaching supervisors how to quickly and correctly train employees by reducing training times for new employees and capturing the knowledge and experience of retiring employees
  • Establishing and maintaining standardized work
  • Improving methods of operation that helps reduce waste, water and energy, as well as improving cost, quality and service competitiveness
  • Solving problems efficiently and effectively
  • Retaining employees by increasing job satisfaction, generate cooperation and positive employee relations inside a safe working environment


 

PRESENTER

Richard Evans

Richard has spent the past 50 years helping companies become more effective in delivering quality and value to the production process, while focusing on customer success. Having a manufacturing engineering background, Richard teaches organizations how to recognize waste through mentoring, coaching and applying lean tools and techniques. His extended knowledge of various industries, such as automotive, aerospace, railroad, packaging, food processing, printing and fasteners, enable him to quickly focus in on opportunities for improvement. As an approved Lean Bronze Review course trainer for SME, Richard is able to coach teams to increase ‘value added’ content to a maximum.

Richard has held various positions in industry from manufacturing engineering director, to director, lean enterprise. During the past 10 years Richard has assisted companies in developing lean transformations through executive mentoring and has facilitated over 50 kaizen events.

Richard is president of the Canadian Board of AME (The Association for Manufacturing Excellence) and was past program chair for national and regional lean conferences since 2007. He is the immediate past chair of the Lean Certification Oversight and Appeals Committee responsible for developing the Bronze, Silver and Gold lean certification program for SME, AME, and The Shingo Institute. Richard is also a certified TWI job instructions and job relations trainer.

AME reserves the right to cancel any webinar due to unforeseen circumstances. If so, every effort will be made to reschedule the webinar and provide a recording.
