Mistakes, whether on the plant floor or in a health care setting, can result in extreme outcomes and cause serious consequences. Nearly every event that causes harm is a consequence of mistakes that cannot be statistically predicted or statistically controlled. Typical statistical process control inspection methods detect problems after the fact.

In this webinar, participants will gain insights on controlling variation, simplifying processes and tasks and reducing defect rates. Implementing these steps can help avoid most defects and are effective in reducing the negative outcome of mistakes when they cannot be completely avoided.

Dr. Martin Hinckley is the author of "Make No Mistake," which contains two hundred mistake-proofing examples classified and organized so that readers can quickly find useful relevant examples to their own quality control problems. His research on the link between design and quality for his Ph.D. at Stanford University received international attention. He has published articles relating to quality control in the fields of healthcare, clinical chemistry, medical manufacturing, automation and composite materials. Hinckley is the recipient of the Westgard Quality Award from the Antwerp Meeting of Clinical Chemistry and has taught MBA and upper division courses in operations management and process analysis and development in the business school at Utah State University. He is president of Assured Quality, Inc., which provides training and consulting in eliminating defects through simplifying products and processes, mistake-proofing and controlling variation without the need for statistical process control.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of why an effective mistake-proofing process is essential to improving the quality of products/services provided by your company.

Anyone who has direct responsibility for processes, whether operational or administrative in nature, will benefit from this training.
