You’ve attended the AME conferences, participated in workshops, and stayed up to date on best practice theories and industry news. But if you are seeking to gain a real competitive edge through your manufacturing operations, the AME Champion’s Club will connect you with manufacturing leaders who are actively implementing solutions that make a positive difference in their businesses.
Members of the Champion’s Club include senior executives from large and small companies, representing a large cross-section of industries. These “Champions of Excellence” are given the unique opportunity to meet and network with peers who may have similar problems and responsibilities. Emmanuel “Manno” Siméus, a senior manager of manufacturing engineering and innovation at Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS), has been a member of the Champion’s Club since April 2008. He said the principles he has learned from the meetings and through networking with peers have proved invaluable. (For more information about Raytheon’s mission for continuous improvement, see “Raytheon Missile Systems: Principles of Excellence,” in Target’s third issue of 2011.)
“The warm welcome from the other Champions was genuine and professional, and kindness and camaraderie I have experienced is outstanding,” he said.
Siméus said RMS has adopted the Autoliv Production System, “Four Tiers of Factory Management Accountability” process thanks to his participation in the Champion’s Club. The process encompasses daily standup meetings, employee engagement and suggestion programs. Since his first meeting with Tom Hartman, president of Autoliv, more than 200 people from RMS have visited Autoliv facilities to receive training on the process of engagement. He said this has improved productivity, increased employee engagement, and saved RMS money.
The Champion’s Club meets four times a year, each time hosted by a Champion in a different city. During the events, the Champions network, tour facilities, and gather for day-long presentations.
“You don’t want to miss out on an AME Champion’s Club meeting,” Siméus explained. “There’s so much value you get from them — the breadth of knowledge and experience is just incredible.”
