Volunteer to Share, Learn, and Grow
Connections: Updates from the Enterprise Excellence Community
Ellen Sieminski
Are you looking for ways to share, learn, and grow with AME? Have you been wondering how to get more involved with the organization? AME thrives on the unwavering support of its phenomenal, dedicated staff and the boundless energy of nearly 200 volunteers who are passionate about lean and enterprise excellence. If you would like to share your talents, learn from fellow practitioners, and grow both personally and professionally, I want to hear from you.
In 2003, I attended my first AME Conference and loved being a part of a community that embraced process improvement. Two years later, I was asked to help out at a regional level, and I cannot imagine my life without AME. I haven’t stopped learning from my fellow members and volunteers, and I haven’t stopped giving back to AME. There are so many different ways that you, as an AME member, can play an even larger role in the organization. Some of these opportunities include:
Within Your Region
- Sharing your talent and skills by participating and helping with special projects as needed
- Sharing your company’s story by hosting a regional event
- Learning from others by hosting a workshop and tour at your site
- Growing professionally and personally by volunteering on your AME regional board
- Sharing your lean knowledge and learning from others by serving as an assessor for the AME Manufacturing Excellence Awards
- Sharing your lean lessons learned and experience in an article for Target magazine or Target Online.
AME National Conference
- Teaching and learning from others by hosting a workshop
- Sharing your company’s story and results in a value stream session
- Sharing your passion for lean and helping others by volunteering
- Sharing your own AME conference experience with new registrants
If you’d enjoy participating in any of these activities, please go to www.ame.org/volunteer and tell me about your interests. I’ll contact you and share more information about volunteering, and then put you in touch with the right person (or people) who can help you get started. Together we’ll all share, learn, and grow as part of AME.
