Overview

The lean or six-sigma implementation journey is dynamic and requires leaders to be effective and skillful in their dialogue across a range of situations that frequently recur during the evolution of a culture of improvement - the need to advocate for change, the need to ensure conformance, and the need to coach for improvement. Gain insights into how talk (what we say and the way we say it) has a direct impact on the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of those around us. Learn how leaders can become highly skilled in their dialogue with people - able to coach and counsel one moment and instruct and direct the next. Hear how coaching is a critical ingredient and a fundamental feature of the end-game. and how eveloping dialogue is a meta-skill, underpinning many modes of interaction.

Bob Garces is vice president - Shawcor Management System (SMS) for Shawcor. Over the years, he has led successful lean programs resulting in reliable execution and sustainable gains. Best practices from these programs have been showcased through plant tours, workshops and publications. Distinguishing features of these programs are the design and delivery of leadership development and a culture where employees are engaged in improving business processes and performance.

Kevin Eyre is the founding director of Talk is Action Limited, a company that specializes in improving the quality of dialogue between people at work. He is the creator of the SoundWave® suite of analytical and development resources and an experienced organization development professional with a particular expertise in the people dynamics of lean-sigma transformations. Eyre is a visiting lecturer at Cranfield University and a member of the Association for Business Psychologists (ABP).
