From the CEO: Honoring YOU this Labor Day

AME | August 29, 2025

As Labor Day approaches, I want to take a moment to celebrate you, the heart and soul of our community. Your dedication, creativity and generosity are what make AME so special, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Last year, I shared a quote attributed to President Harry S. Truman that continues to resonate with me: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”

In 2010, I had the honor of joining a naval embarkation on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, built at Newport News Shipbuilding. This unforgettable experience deepened my respect for the hardworking men and women who serve. I still follow that ship with pride, and this time of year always reminds me of their incredible spirit of service and teamwork.

This Labor Day, I’m reminded that spirit also lives powerfully in each of you. Your commitment to excellence a tribute to your passion and the backbone of our organization. You are change agents, creators of impact. The work you do matters. It powers our industry, strengthens our communities and builds a better tomorrow. We would not be celebrating our 41st anniversary without you.

Just as the USS Harry S. Truman launches aircraft into the sky, our upcoming AME St. Louis 2025 International Conference serves as a launchpad for ideas, innovation and connection. It’s where we take off together, sharing insights, solving challenges and celebrating our 41-year journey. Each year, this conference thrives because of the thousands of hours volunteered by practitioners who plan sessions, lead tours and workshops, and provide a welcoming space for first-time attendees to connect. If you have never been to an AME conference, I invite you to experience it firsthand. Register here.

On behalf of AME, thank you for your unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. We are better because of you. This Labor Day, we celebrate you.

Happy Labor Day!

As always, please stay safe and keep looking out for one another.
