Overview

This session will begin with a plant tour of G & W Electric's operation and will also include a kickoff segment for the Chicago AME Consortium. The plant tour will highlight various elements of G & W's continuous improvement initiatives including the results of G & W's 3P Process (Production, Preparation, Process) deployment. The 3P process will highlight methods used to minimize waste and maximize efficiency and how G & W utilized full-scale porotypes to test ideas before final production. Other CI tools will also be on display. The session will also serve as a kick-off for the Chicago AME Consortium which brings companies to share, learn, and grow in their continuous improvement journeys.

Presenter

Jim Boss, Senior Director Operational Exccellence, G & W. Jim has 30 years of experience leading successful organizations on continuous improvement journeys. Jim has also served in production leadership, quality, IT roles. Jim's is passionate about creating environments where innovation and efficiency thrive.

Bruce Bechtel. AME Chicago Consortia Facilitator,  has 39+ years of manufacturing experience in metals and heavy Equipment industries. Bruce has worked in family, private, public and private equity owned businesses during his career. He has extensive experience in helping businesses grow profitably using a practical approach to Lean and continuous improvement processes. He recently started his own consulting business aimed at assisting small to medium sized manufacturing companies.
