LPPD: Visualize Work for Flow - Tools and Techniques to Apply Visual Management for Better Communication and Product Development Flow

Overview
The objective of this webinar is to inform Product Development practitioners, and their organizational collaborators, about how Visual Management (VM) is a key activity in the enablement of workflow. VM provides an opportunity for thoughtful and effective collaboration across program teams as they execute program meetings at the VM board. The boards can be connected at multiple levels in a program and tie to a leaderboard where leaders have visibility to the work. This enables a natural flow of information up and down from individual contributors through program leaders to leadership and back.
We will discuss the process and cultural benefits of VM in the presentation. This webinar is directed at practitioners in organizations who are pursuing Lean principles in all aspects of Product Development. Lean Product and Process Development (LPPD) is a culmination of best practices applied to the Product Development system originally utilized by Toyota Motor Corporation. Since the primary research by faculty at the University of Michigan in the 1990’s, the method has spread to leading innovators in many industries. The intent is to inform and inspire innovation excellence in organizations pursuing operational excellence.

The Lean Product and Process Development Exchange consists of a board made up of 9 volunteers from Northern Europe and the US. Board Members have various backgrounds across multiple industries with extensive experience as practitioners, in academia and as consultants. We are the central hub for a larger community of practice and work with that community to educate, nurture and encourage Lean practices in Product Development, while enabling increased speed to market, increased consumer value and increased business growth. LPPDE runs monthly 3 hour virtual summits, with time for presentations, reflection and discussion. The venue is small but enables rich sharing and insight. Speakers come from many organizations, across multiple industries and backgrounds. We also run annual conferences in Europe and North America and partner with various organizations to promote our mission and provide education. LPPDE events focus on topics which include Lean application in Product Development, it’s interface with other practices, such as Agile, leadership, organizational and cultural development, and optimized connections to manufacturing and the business for optimized performance. www.LPPDE.org
