El Centro de Distribución de Zigo es una operación logística de alta intensidad, diseñada para abastecer una red ferretera con un portafolio amplio y productos de características muy distintas. La operación combina mercancía empacable, almacenada principalmente en mezzanine, con producto entarimable, voluminoso o irregular, almacenado en racks selectivos. Esta combinación exige administrar en un mismo flujo productos pequeños de alta rotación y artículos de mayor volumen, con necesidades diferentes de almacenamiento, picking, reabasto y despacho.
Dimensión y dinámica operativa Nuevo Centro de Distribución de aproximadamente 23,000 m². Operación de lunes a sábado con diferentes turnos para absorber la demanda y los picos de ingreso. Volumen típico de aproximadamente 28,000 a 34,000 líneas por día. Operación integrada de Inbound, almacenamiento, reabasto, picking, empaque, consolidación y Outbound. Gestión mediante WMS para controlar inventario, ubicaciones, prioridades, olas, reabasto y trazabilidad. Promesa operativa enfocada en alcanzar 95% de entrega en 24 horas (95/24).
The Zigo Distribution Center is a high-intensity logistics operation designed to supply a hardware retail network with a broad portfolio and products with very different characteristics. The operation combines packable merchandise, stored mainly in the mezzanine, with palletized, bulky, or irregular products stored in selective racks. This combination requires managing, within the same flow, small high-rotation products and larger-volume items, with different storage, picking, replenishment, and dispatch needs.
Operational Scale and Dynamics New Distribution Center of approximately 23,000 m². Operations run Monday through Saturday with different shifts to absorb demand and inbound peaks. Typical volume of approximately 28,000 to 34,000 lines per day. Integrated operation covering Inbound, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, consolidation, and Outbound. Managed through a WMS to control inventory, locations, priorities, waves, replenishment, and traceability. Operational promise focused on achieving 95% delivery within 24 hours (95/24).

My name is Astrid. I was born in Guatemala City, I am married, and I am the mother of two wonderful girls. I am an Industrial Engineer with 21 years of experience managing logistics operations, especially distribution centers. I currently serve as Distribution Center Manager at Zigo, managing HPC operations.
I love the Lean world, especially because I am passionate about seeing the team develop, learn to identify waste, and turn small, continuous improvements into a way of working. For me, Lean is not only about productivity: it is about developing people, simplifying processes, and building a culture in which every team member can contribute ideas and see the impact of their work.

We will take visitors through the Distribution Center from the perspective of our frontline team. They will see how we work every day to fulfill our delivery promise and how the team has embraced Lean principles to create a simpler, safer, more efficient, and customer-centered operation.
- We will share a people-centered organizational culture through personal testimonials, as well as the coexistence of two storage models: mezzanine for packable products and selective racking for palletized/irregular products.
- The flow from receiving and imports through storage, replenishment, picking, packing, consolidation, and dispatch.
- Real Kaizen examples: redesign of staging areas, continuous replenishment flow, reduction of sorting steps, and simplification of movements. We will show how we use problems and constraints as opportunities to develop the team and improve the process.
