Philips Respironics in Kennesaw designs and manufactures medical devices for the Home Respiratory Care market. The 130,000 sq. ft. facility is comprised of 310 full-time associates and a temporary work force of 115 to support growth. This FDA-registered facility houses Manufacturing, Distribution, New Product Development, Research and Development, Quality Assurance, Global Sourcing, and a Service Center. Manufacturing includes high-volume/mixed model as well as low-volume/mixed model production lines, ranging from electromechanical assembly to machining and precision mechanical assembly.
Philips’ Innovation and You is driven through the operations using lean manufacturing initiatives. Manufacturing processes are set up using one-piece flow and standard work. Automated test systems are designed and developed to support flexible manufacturing processes and product mix. Continuous Improvement tools that are used include Kaizen Blitzes, Quick and Easy Kaizens, 6S Events, Value Stream Mapping, Daily Performance Management, Visual Management, Internal and External Kanban Replenishment, and Sustainability initiatives.
Driving continuous improvements in manufacturing has allowed the Kennesaw facility to sustain growth in excess of 50% over the last five years.
