Caterpillar opened its Athens, Ga. facility in 2013. Caterpillar Athens is no ordinary manufacturing facility. The site uses data analytics to make its factory more efficient and harnesses the power of data to make better decisions, fix quality issues faster and deliver more value to its customers. The facility sits on 250 acres with three main buildings totaling 850,000 square feet and currently employs nearly 1,600 people.

  • Computer controlled machining
  • State of the art powder primer/top coat paint system
  • Warehousing/kitting component
  • Modular subassembly
  • Asynchronous assembly line
  • Online job instructions/standard work with integrated shop floor control
  • Quality gates and pre-delivery Inspection
  • Product distribution center
  • Product distribution center

You will see the production of multiple sizes of mini hydraulic excavators and small track-type tractors.
