Overview

Carter BloodCare is one of the largest blood centers in Texas and the United States. The community blood center delivered almost 400,000 blood products to medical facilities in 2015. Carter BloodCare developed its first WorkSmart program in 2006 with the mobile staging department. On the tour, you will see this department, as well as the components laboratory and the reference and transfusion laboratory – both of which also benefited from WorkSmart.

Company

Carter BloodCare is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization providing blood and transfusion medicine services to more than 200 medical facilities, within a 50-plus county area of north, central and east Texas. Statistically, there are 600 to 800 patients per day that require blood transfusions within the Carter BloodCare service area. The center needs to see about 1,000 blood donors per day to maintain a safe and sufficient regional blood supply. www.carterbloodcare.org
