Overview

Senior managers understand they are responsible for aligning people with the company’s purpose and objectives. In most cases, they have questions about how to do that. Learn how strategy deployment (hoshin planning) is a proven management system that vertically and horizontally aligns your organization's functions and activities with strategic objectives. Discover how the strategy alignment process also releases the creativity in each team member as department, group and individual goals are developed. This interactive workshop will show attendees an established, reliable methodology for applying strategy deployment that creates a clear strategic framework, strengthens problem-solving capabilities and motivates team members.

Lean Enterprise Institute Inc., (LEI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, MA, with a mission to makes things better through lean thinking and practice in order to create more value and prosperity while consuming the fewest possible resources. Founded in 1997, by management expert James P. Womack, PhD, LEI conducts research, teaches educational workshops, publishes books and ebooks, and shares practical information about lean thinking and practice through www.lean.org.

Presenter: Mark Reich / Jikku Mohan

Mark Reich is chief operations officer of LEI. He oversees day-to-day operations, strategy, publishing, training and leads the Co-Learning Partners program. Prior to LEI, he spent 23 years at Toyota, most recently as general manager of the Toyota Production System Support Center, where he doubled the number of companies supported. He transitioned it to nonprofit status to better support its mission of strengthening North American manufacturing.  Previously, Reich was assistant general manager, corporate strategy division, where he implemented Toyota's North American strategic (hoshin) process. He is author of the forthcoming book, Managing on Purpose.

Jikku Mohan is responsible for strategy deployment and business development at LEI. His professional background is in software development at Oracle with an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mohan's interests are in the area of strategy, management systems and product development, and engaging with the lean community on these topics.
