Thursday, October 22: Thoroughbred Horse Farm — Kentucky

A family-owned enterprise, Thoroughbred Heritage Horse Farm tours starts the exploration of the horse country at Calumet. With its iconic whitewashed barns with bright red trim, Calumet was once a sprawling property that dominated the horse breeding business. The tour then moves down Versailles Road to Keeneland and onto the grounds of an area horse farm to see the stallion barn. The tour concludes after visiting some other scenic spots in the horse country that have appeared in various films. The tours show how a horse farm runs, with patrons meeting retired thoroughbreds, broodmares, stallions, weanlings and maybe even foals if the tour is during the foaling season. Lunch will be at Keeneland racetrack and race time is set to start at 1:30 p.m. This will be a companion event to talk about for years!
