Find the leaks. Break the bottlenecks. Expose the blind spots.
Stress-test your transportation network before the next disruption does

OVERVIEW
You cannot predict the next supply chain disruption, but you can identify where it is most likely to hurt.
Transportation networks rarely become inefficient because of one catastrophic decision. More often, vulnerabilities build quietly over time. A new facility opens. A carrier is added. A customer requires an exception. A supplier controls inbound freight. One location develops its own process, while another relies on a workaround intended to be temporary.
Individually, these decisions often make sense. Collectively, they can create leaks, bottlenecks and blind spots that consume margin, restrict performance and leave an organization exposed when conditions change.
In this interactive session, HTL Chief Operating Officer Jeff Thomas will challenge participants to look beyond individual shipments and examine transportation as an interconnected operating system. Attendees will explore three common sources of transportation vulnerability:
- Leaks: Unnecessary transportation costs that quietly consume margin.
- Bottlenecks: Processes, decisions and constraints that restrict flow, speed and performance.
- Blind spots: Gaps in data and visibility that prevent leaders from recognizing leaks and bottlenecks.
Participants will apply this framework to stress-test their own transportation networks and identify potential vulnerabilities across carriers, modes, facilities, inbound freight, routing, technology, processes and decision-making.
The goal is to build a transportation network better prepared to respond to disruption by understanding vulnerabilities before conditions change.
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify hidden transportation vulnerabilities that affect cost, service, capacity and resilience.
- Evaluate how facilities, carriers, modes, processes, data and decisions work together across the transportation network.
- Apply a practical framework to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen performance through greater visibility, control and operating discipline.
