OVERVIEW
The GE HealthCare Electric Avenue Plant tour provides participants with a firsthand look at a facility built on specialized, highly complex manufacturing technologies and vertical integration.
The site has transformed through disciplined lean application, technology adoption and strong leadership engagement. The tour highlights how the plant integrates its management system to drive daily accountability, visual performance management and a culture of continuous improvement.
Participants will experience real-time digital dashboards, MES-enabled workflow control and automated data capture that support consistent, high-quality execution. The Electric Avenue facility’s lean journey reflects a shift from reactive problem-solving to a structured, prevention-focused operating model. Early challenges — including variation in process stability, material flow interruptions and inconsistent standards — led to the adoption of tools such as 5S, standardized work, error proofing, tiered daily management and A3 problem-solving. Participants will see how the plant sustains improvements through layered audits, KPI transparency and closed-loop corrective actions.

The facility has accessibility limitations.
1. Walking and; Standing Requirements: Tours often require extended periods of walking, sometimes over long distances.
2. Uneven or Industrial Flooring Surfaces: May include grated walkways, concrete, ramps, slopes, or steps, which can be difficult for individuals using mobility aids.
3. Restricted Areas & Elevated Platforms: Access to certain operations may require climbing stairs, using platforms, or navigating conned spaces.
4. PPE Requirements Mandatory: Personal protective equipment (PPE)—may create barriers for visitors with sensory, physical, or medical sensitivities.
5. Noise, Lighting, Environmental Conditions: The plant environment may include high noise levels, bright or harsh lights, and temperature fluctuations, which could affect individuals with sensory sensitivities or medical conditions.
6. No Wheelchair or scooter access in certain zones due to space constraints or safety regulations.
Lunch: Will be served in the keynote room at the Baird Center.
Tour participants will depart from and return to the Baird Center. Conference participants are not allowed to arrive to/depart from a tour site on their own.
