New Holland Saskatoon is part of CNH Industrial (CNHi) and produces agricultural machinery mainly under the Case and New Holland brands. Its 678,000 square foot Saskatoon plant is home to 456 employees and operates one shift per day, five days per week. The AME assessors were particularly impressed by the management team’s commitment to implementation of the company adopted World Class Manufacturing model. Strong components of the implementation were an emphasis on safety and utilization of lean manufacturing methodologies. The model has been used in Saskatoon to train all employees in lean tools and provides a high level of involvement in the implementation of associates’ ideas. New Holland Saskatoon demonstrates an organization-wide lean approach that includes not only the operations functions, but also all support personnel. The assessors noted strong parallels between the AME Excellence Award and World Class Manufacturing models and noted that New Holland Saskatoon was producing outstanding business results through organization-wide efforts.
