From the CEO: Embracing “All other things as assigned” in the pursuit of excellence

AME | September 26, 2025

As we prepare to gather in St. Louis for the AME St. Louis 2025 International Conference, I want to share a thought that has guided me throughout our journey in the planning and preparations for this upcoming AME International Conference. That is the phrase “and all other things as assigned.”

It’s a reminder that the magic of continuous improvement isn’t found in “not my job,” but in stepping forward, leaning in, and embracing whatever challenges or opportunities come our way. It’s about saying “yes and” and discovering the impact we can make working together.

This year’s conference will be a celebration of that mindset. From engaging keynotes to hands-on workshops, from insightful plant tours to meaningful conversations with peers, every moment is designed to inspire us to see possibility everywhere. It’s a chance to share, learn and grow because excellence is never achieved alone. We know that collaboration and ownership are essential for success, even when it might not fully be “my job.”

We are only successful when we work together and support each other.

Thank you for being part of this community that believes in people-centered leadership, the strength of teamwork and the possibilities that arise when we are willing to take on “all other things as assigned.”

I am thrilled to also share some exciting news. Our AME Australia Region will be sponsoring, as part of the Executive Development Mission, an incredible Japan Tour exploring world-class Japanese companies, leadership practices and cultural insight in February 2026. This six-day, seven-night journey is a deep dive into world-class Japanese business excellence.

If you register to attend the “AI-driven enterprise transformation: A hands-on experience in scalable impact” at the AME St. Louis 2025 Conference AND explore the immersive Niwaki Exhibit, you’ll be eligible to enter a drawing for a spot (valued at ~$12,000+) for this AME Australia Leadership Development Mission to Japan.

If you haven’t registered yet, it is not too late. I can’t wait to see each of you in St. Louis to continue this journey together.

As always, please stay safe and keep looking out for one another.
